Constitutive General Assembly: from a group to an association

Members reviewed the Statutes (45 articles) and Internal Rules (29 articles) and set up the governance bodies.

27 September 2026

On 27 September 2026, members of Passerelles Mauritanie met online for the constitutive General Assembly — the step that turns a WhatsApp group into an association.

Under the leadership of the President, Pr. Maïmouna Thiam, the movement went in under two months from an inaugural meeting to a Founding Charter, a six-month roadmap, draft Statutes (45 articles) and Internal Rules (29 articles).

On the agenda

  1. Opening and recap of the decisions of 30 August
  2. Review and adoption of the founding texts
  3. Setting up the governance bodies, with the election of the Executive Bureau
  4. Legal formalisation and next steps
  5. Other business

What comes next

The registration file (signed Statutes, minutes of the Assembly, list of the Bureau and registered address in Nouakchott) is prepared by the General Secretariat under Law No. 2021-004. Membership dues will be decided after registration.

“If there is no one to carry the idea, the idea is worth nothing.” — Pr. Maïmouna Thiam
