School support: a pilot for the first four primary grades
Reading, writing and numeracy in Arabic and French, girls first, run inside schools with experienced teachers.
15 September 2026
The Youth, Education, Training & Employment Passerelle is preparing a school-support pilot, based on a discussion note by Pr. Moussa Bathily Ba (15 September 2026).
Why
The quality of education has collapsed, exam results are poor, and many pupils receive no support at all — public, private or family. The 2022-023 education law sets an ambitious goal: lasting literacy by the end of the fourth year of primary school.
How
- Focus on the first four years of primary school, and on girls.
- Reading, writing and numeracy, in Arabic and French.
- Work with the school director, the parents’ association (APE) and the school management committee (COGES).
- Classes inside the school, right after lessons (about 1 h 30), taught by the most experienced teachers, including retirees, fairly paid.
- Start with a reasonable sample and a clear protocol: sites, follow-up and evaluation, budget, governance and accountability.
Members can support the pilot through the Donate page or by volunteering.
